Salmon for experimental trials in the laboratory and field are produced at VESO Vikan's hatchery which is located 20 kilometres from Vikan.
Production of our own salmon ensures quality in every step from egg to smolts ready for transfer to sea. The hatchery produces standard salmon (15-20 grams) all year round, in addition to IPN- and PD-susceptible salmon. The hatchery has a separate high quality fresh water source with stable temperatures, which allows smaller experimental trials without infectious agents to be conducted on site.
